The China National Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Hu Yongyan, recently performed at the Beijing Concert Hall.

The repertorie included Gustav Theodore Holst's orchestral suite The Planets and Also sprach Zarathustra, a tone poem by Richard Strauss, and the concert marked the start of the summer program, Gateway to Music.

The annual event started by the Beijing Concert Hall about 20 years ago aims to attract young audiences with low ticket prices during the summer vacation.

So, from July 6 to August 26, 60 concerts and 4 workshops will be held at the venue. And the performances range from classical to traditional Chinese folk music, by artists from home and abroad.
