Beijing People's Art Theater announced it will stage a Chinese version of A Raisin in the Sun, a three-act play debuted on Broadway in the 1950s, on Sept 1 at the Capital Theater in Beijing, the troupe's dedicated performing venue.

Written by African-American playwright Lorraine Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun depicts hope and inspiration through the struggle of an African American family which inherited a fortune of insurance money in 1950s Chicago.

The Chinese version was presented by Ying Da, who is famous among Chinese audiences for directing and portraying characters in comedy films and dramas.
