Chao Bistro has opened in Beijing's Sanlitun area, adding a modern option for Chaozhou cuisine, a major branch of Cantonese food, in the capital.

The decor of the restaurant gives traditional Chaozhou culture a modern twist, utilizing the city's intangible cultural heritage of bamboo weaving.

Eighty percent of ingredients are air-delivered from Chaozhou, Guangdong province on a daily basis in order to ensure authentic Chaozhou flavor.

The traditional sea cucumber is one signature dish, stewed with chicken, pork, fish and many other ingredients for two hours.

The raw marinated crab and fried rice with preserved turnip are also highlights from the bistro's extensive menu.
