China Media Group (CMG), China's state radio and television broadcaster, launched an overhaul of its program offerings on Thursday.

Two hundred new news programs will debut across the network. Leading programs, such as China's most-watched daily TV news program, Xinwen Lianbo, will be given a face-lift. Other news programs produced by the broadcaster will be given an upgrade, with comment and discussion programs set to remain a key focus.

Viewers will see greater use of high-definition 4K video technology, and 8K programming is currently under development. Artificial intelligence technology will also be put to use to integrate website content, streaming video, and other audio-visual products.

CMG offers 19 TV channels and 17 radio stations domestically. It also has global TV channels, radio stations, and new media platforms that provide content in 44 languages.
