The Chinese women’s team kick-started their campaign in the Asian Games basketball tournament by crushing Thailand 110-42 in their Group B match. China has won the coveted title five times in the past and their performance against Thailand underlined their supremacy.

The Chinese side started well when Li Meng sank a long deuce to give her side a 7-0 lead. Late in the first quarter, Sun Mengran went off the glass and China was leading by 20 points at that stage.

Then, China's Li Yuan added a triple for good measure in the second quarter.

Sun went on to have a game-high 16 points as China secured the whopping victory to ensure a perfect start to their tournament campaign.

The Chinese will take on Japan in their second group league game on Friday.
