The 3rd Beibu Gulf (Danzhou, Hainan) Tourism and Food Exposition kicked off on June 5 in Danzhou City, south China’s Hainan Province. Food from 17 countries around the world is on display at the event, attracting many domestic and foreign visitors.

Paying particular attention to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a Silk Road-themed pavilion and international food street were set up at the exposition for the first time to highlight distinctive characteristics of the food cultures in the countries along BRI routes.

A contest for local snacks was also held during the event, gathering together various specialties including millet pastry, red bean steamed buns, water chestnut cake, and roast suckling pig.

As traditional Chinese festival Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival, will fall on June 7 this year, various types of zongzi, a special Chinese snack during the Duanwu Festival, are also exhibited at the expo.
