The third Beijing Combat was held on Thursday evening. This international fighting competition at the Changping Gymnasium saw 14 competitors from Belt and Road countries going head to head in seven bouts in a mix of kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and boxing styles.

One of the highlights was a clash between teenagers. 14-year-old Dmytro Puhach from Ukraine went up against 15-year-old Chinese Zhang Peimian in a flyweight kickboxing contest.

Zhang came out swinging, and delivered a series of punches to his opponent's head, forcing the Ukrainian into the corner. Puhach tried to fight back with several knee jabs, but was not able to inflict much damage.

The Guangxi native continued to batter his opponent with powerful swings in the second round, and when Puhach could not muster much resistance, the referee stopped the bout. Zhang won by TKO, claiming his 12th victory in 14 matches as a professional kickboxer.

The main event featured China's Li Leshan and Dave Andreo Pena-losa of the Philippines in an ultra-featherweight boxing showdown.

The opening round was evenly matched, as the WBC champion went toe to toe against the Filipino, who came in undefeated with 13 wins, including nine knockouts.

Pena-losa displayed his power as he connected with a couple of vicious body shots against Li, but the titleholder managed to weather that onslaught and only seemed to get stronger as the contest went the distance of six thrilling rounds.

So it all came down to the judges' scorecards, and the Guangdong native prevailed by unanimous decision to claim the 16th victory of his pro boxing career.
