A classical Chinese musical singing and dance performance Huakai Dongfang (Lit: flowers bloom in the east), was performed in Baoji, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on Monday. The show was part of celebrations leading to the province's third Chinese Famers' Harvest Festival on Tuesday as well as the upcoming 9th Shaanxi Provincial Arts Festival.

The show, organised by the CPAA Theatre and the Shaanxi Provincial Arts Festival committee, was performed by the China Oriental Performing Arts Group in Baoji, which boasts the nickname "The Hometown of Chinese Bronze."

Held annually during the autumn equinox, the national harvest festival will kick off on Tuesday.

The Shaanxi Provincial Arts Festival offers a great platform for artists working in different artistic fields such as Qinqiang (Shaanxi Opera) and theater to show off their talents. The festival is scheduled to kick off on October 15 and run for one month.
