Chinese film wins jury award at int'l documentary festival

FRANKFURT, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese documentary took home an award at the fourth Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival here on Sunday evening.

"Stammering Ballad," a documentary featuring a Chinese folk musician's pursuits, won the Golden Tree Jury Award. American documentary "Distant Constellation," depicting life at a retirement home in Istanbul, Turkey, won the Best Feature Film.

Documentaries from the Netherlands, Cuba, New Zealand, the Czech Republic and Israel won the other seven awards.

First launched in 2016, the annual film festival exclusively dedicated to documentaries received 4,523 submissions from 126 countries and regions this year. The four-day event consisted of film screenings, forums and presentations of more than 20 projects.

The next Golden Tree film festival is slated for November 2020, with 12 awards to be given out. It will start to accept submissions from Nov. 15, 2019, according to the organizer.
