Chinese golfer Wu Ashun became the first Asian and Chinese winner of the KLM Open in Spijk, Netherlands on Sunday, passing Britain's Chris Wood in the final round.

It was Wu's third win on the European tour in 95 appearances, after the 2015 Volvo China Open and 2016 Lyoness Open.

Wood entered the final round as leader, but Wu managed to beat him after a round of 67 strokes and a birdie finish. The 33-year-old Chinese ended on a total of 268 (-16). Wood came out on -15 after a final round of 69.

"It was an unbelievable week," Wu said after winning the match. "I am so happy, very happy today and thank you everyone. It was beautiful weather this week too and a lot of good golf played here and I like this golf course very much."
