China joined in virtual celebrations on March 22 of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, known to Bangladeshis as “the father of the nation.”

Chinese traditional performers and classical musicians showcased the profound friendship of the Bangladeshi and Chinese peoples.

The China Embassy in Bangladesh, the government of North China's Liaoning Province and the public cultural service center of Liaoning delivered the best wishes of the Chinese people who live in Bangladesh to the Bangladeshi people.

The event deepened China-Bangladesh cultural exchanges, promoted construction of the Belt and Road initiative, strengthened the China-Bangladesh strategic partnership and spread China's excellent culture in Bangladesh, according to an embassy press release.

China and Bangladesh have long been friendly neighbors through the ancient Silk Road that links the people of the two countries.
