The 3rd Beijing Photo Biennial has opened at the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). The project aims to examine the ways photography continues to engage in contemporary cultural narratives and the construction of new artistic orders.

The exhibition showcases around 1,000 works of some 80 artists, drawing on Western classics and cutting-edge photographic resources across the globe.

As part of the Special Exhibition section of the 1st Beizhen International Photography Festival, this year's event is held simultaneously at the Culture Industry Center of Beizhen, in the northeastern province of Liaoning and the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

Themed "Confusing Public and Private," the exhibition revolves around the complex coexistence of photography – a broad, multidisciplinary field – and explores its role and significance in the tensions between the public and the private.

The museum also hopes the signature event would discover and support talented young photographers in China and encourage them to explore the language of photography, expand their views, and contribute to the development of photography in the country.

In addition, a series of academic seminars, talks and public education activities are being held during the exhibition, which runs from September 28 to November 4.
