Located in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Slender West Lake derives its name from its long and slender shape. As a part of the Grand Canal's Yangzhou section, the lake developed from the city's ancient moats. During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the area attracted many wealthy officials and salt merchants to live there. It has been restored as a popular scenic area and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
