The Major Cold, the final solar term, arrives on January 20 this year. During this period, cold fronts move south, bringing the year's lowest temperatures to much of China, along with ice and snow. Altay prefecture in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region gets lots of snow, making it a popular ski destination.
