The project consists of three phases, extending from Sher Khan Bandar in northern Kunduz province to Torkham on the border with Pakistan via Baghlan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Kabul, Laghman and Nangarhar provinces, the statement said.
Afghanistan is expected to earn around 60 million U.S. dollars annually in transit revenue from the project, the statement added.
The CASA-1000 project aims to transmit 1,300 megawatts of surplus hydropower from Central Asia to energy-deficient South Asian countries, promoting regional energy cooperation and connectivity.
