The audio guide systems are "an important step to further bring together two cultures that, despite the geographical distance, share a profound poetic tradition and a special appreciation for literature and the arts," said Alvaro Insunza, the foundation's president, at a presentation ceremony.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Chile Niu Qingbao said that the launch of the Chinese audio guide system will establish an authoritative and systematic channel for Chinese poetry enthusiasts and tourists to visit and learn.

Neruda, a renowned Chilean poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971, owned three residences in Chile during his lifetime, all of which have been converted into museums.

In 1952, together with then-Senator Salvador Allende and painter Jose Venturelli, he co-founded the Chile-China Cultural Association, the first non-governmental organization committed to developing friendly ties with China in Latin America.
