We met a traveler from Switzerland at Dali Airport after he had spent seven days exploring Dali in Yunnan, China. From the peaceful ancient town and lively modern streets to an unexpected hotpot addiction, he shares his honest impressions of the city.

But his biggest highlight wasn't a famous attraction, it was the people. New local friends welcomed him into their circle, stayed out eating hotpot until 7 a.m., and sang Chinese songs together, even though he knew only about ten words in Chinese.

What would he recommend to anyone visiting Dali? Rent a bike and ride around Erhai Lake. Watch to the end to find out why Dali left such a lasting impression.
