A three-day showcase of Chinese films opened in Cairo on September 1, bringing five Chinese productions to Egyptian audiences, namely the rally comedy Pegasus 3, the space documentary Shen Zhou 13, the family drama Dear You, the animated adventure Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector, and the drama The Happiness Train.
Organized by China Media Group (CMG), the "Silk Road" Chinese Film Showcase drew Chinese and Egyptian filmmakers and moviegoers to talk about filmmaking and the film industry during the event.

Some Egyptian viewers said they could relate to the stories despite the language and cultural differences. They said the films gave them a chance to see everyday life and different sides of China on screen. Some also said they hoped more Chinese films would be shown in Egyptian cinemas.

Egyptian film professionals also noted the rapid development of Chinese cinema in recent years, particularly in filmmaking technology, storytelling and visual effects. They said the showcase helped them learn more about China's film market and industry.
The event was also covered by several Egyptian media outlets, including Al-Ahram, Al Gomhuria, Youm7 and Al-Jamahir News.
