LeBron welcomed by crazy fans in Shanghai trip

NBA superstar Lebron James told his fans not to fear failure as the new Los Angeles Laker eyes a revival for the former NBA champions.

"Being able to accept failure is a process," the three-time NBA winner said Saturday on his trip to Shanghai. "It is not wrong you fail. When people get so afraid to fail, they don't get everything into it."

Speaking of nervousness on court, James, who signed a four-year, $153 million contract with the Lakers in July, said it was important to handle pressure.

He faced the Golden State Warriors in each of the past four NBA Finals as a player for the Cleveland Cavaliers and managed to take his team to a total one - emotional - victory.

It was in 2016 when Cleveland made the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history, rallying from 3-1 down to the Warriors to take the series in seven games.

"I understand there will be a time I won't succeed or may fail, but I won't stop," he said. "I will continue to go back."

James will make his Los Angeles home debut on October 20 against the Houston Rockets at Staples Center arena.

As an activist promoting social justice, James also has his personal social media account posting videos featuring ordinary people telling their own stories, a move that has earned him credit off court. 

James' trip to Shanghai was welcomed by his Chinese fans. Thousands gathered outside court in rain and sauna-like conditions on Saturday to watch James play, hoping to catch a peek of their idol. 

At an event on Saturday, some fans snuck into a tunnel and waited hours to catch a close-range glimpse of their star.

James' TV series The Shop, co-produced by his digital video company Uninterrupted and television giant HBO, debuted on Tuesday.

The barbershop-set talk show features conversations that some wouldn't expect of a sports star. Its cast for the first episode included NFL stars, former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green.
