Haiyang in East China’s Shandong Province will host a FIBA Beach Volleyball World Tour event from July 18 to 22, organizers announced.

As of Tuesday, more than 30 teams have signed up.

The event is considered a tune-up for China ahead of the Asian Games, which will be held later this year in Jakarta.

Compared to the Chinese men’s team of five pairs who will compete in the Haiyang tournament, the Chinese ladies’ team features four pairs, with world No.17 pair Wang Fan and Xia Xinyi leading the way.

Haiyang is not new to beach sports. It held the Asian Beach Games in 2012.
