About 2,500 citizens from Nanjing marked the 50th anniversary of the Yangtze River Bridge on Sunday. (Photos: VCG)

The run included 50 people born in 1968, 50 construction professionals who built the bridge and 400 delegates in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province.

The run began from the south of the bridge through to the north end of it, making the entire journey 6.8 kilometers long.

The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Highway was open to traffic on December 29, 1968, and was reopened this month after being renovated for 27 months.
