Beijing's Miyun district will host a marathon on May 26, organizers announced on Tuesday.

The race, previously held as half-marathons of 21 kilometers each, will see 3,000 runners for the 42.195-kilometer event. The top prize money for the winner will be increased to 20,000 yuan ($2,980), organizers said.
A total of 10,000 slots are available, and applications will start at 10 am on April 8 on miyun-marathon.com.
Miyun, which has the biggest reservoir in Beijing, is located in the city's northeast.
