Ziyuan county in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has submitted a bid to host the 2020 World Rafting Championships.

The local bidding committee is scheduled to head to Tully, Australia to give a detailed presentation to the International Rafting Federation (IRF) in May.

The Wupai River in Ziyuan played host to the 2017 and 2018 World Cup series for rafting and will see another World Cup event later this year.

The prize money for the 2020 World Championships has reached to $50,000, according to the IRF.

A specific date for the 2020 race has yet to be set as the IRF needs to take into consideration the water and weather conditions in the host region.

Ziyuan is a county under Guingxi's major tourist city Guilin, which is about 60 minutes by coach from the Guilin International Airport.
