BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- "Spider-Man: Far from Home" has swung past the 1 billion yuan mark at the Chinese mainland box office.

Ten days into its screening, the film has grossed nearly 1.1 billion yuan (about 159.6 million U.S. dollars) in the world's second-largest film market.

The film has scored eight out of ten points on Douban, a major Chinese film rating platform, with 27 percent of its nearly 230,000 viewers giving a five-star review.

With its strong performance, total box office revenue of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise has exceeded 20 billion yuan on the Chinese mainland, according to Maoyan, a major Chinese film database.

"Avengers: Endgame," Marvel's landmark tentpole released in April, is now the second-highest grossing film on the mainland in 2019, with a 4.2-billion-yuan theatrical run. Enditem
