Large toy manufacturers are trying to use more inclusive products for greater appeal to consumers in diverse markets.

Barbie has launched a new line of dolls aimed at encouraging girls to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Barbie's parent company Mattel says the new Barbie is aimed at helping girls see themselves as able to aspire for careers where women are traditionally underrepresented.

Mattel has made many additions to its lineup in recent years.

It launched a new series of Barbie dolls, adding three different body types: petite, plump and tall in 2016.

In addition, there are 7 different skin types and 22 eye colors on different types of girls.

Barbie dolls got rid of the traditional look of blonde hair, blue eyes. Every girl can now find her own shadow on a certain Barbie.

For children growing up these days, it's easier to find diverse dolls that suit their aspirations and look like them.

Lego unveiled three figures portraying female scientists in 2014.

The range – known as the Research Institute – featured a palaeontologist, an astronomer, and a chemist, all of whom were women.

In 2016, Lego released its first-ever disabled figure of a wheelchair-bound character at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair in Germany.

The move was met with praise from campaigners who wanted more diverse characters to include millions of disabled children who felt they were not represented by previous sets of the popular toy.

GoldieBlox, the young toy company, hopes to encourage more girls to become interested in STEM through products.

Debbie Sterling, founder of the brand, said that her goal is to break the "pink corridor" in the toy store, proving that girls can also be interested in building blocks and hope that big toy companies can also consider making transgender toy products.
