BEIJING (Xinhua) -- "Serenity," an American thriller film starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, will hit the Chinese mainland big screens on December 20, the film's official Weibo account announced Monday.

Directed by Steven Knight, the film tells the story of Baker Dill, a fishing boat captain struggling to deal with his mysterious past and a new perplexing reality after his ex-wife returns to break the serenity of his life.

Hitting U.S. theaters in January, the film has a current score of 6.1 out of 10 points on Chinese film rating site Douban.
