Among the mountains and valleys in the center of Hainan Island, we can see a typical tropical rainforest with many unique species. Some of them are native to the Hainan rainforest, and some of them may be evolving quietly towards becoming new species. There are still some secrets of flowers, trees, birds and beasts in Hainan Island that have yet to be revealed.

Hainan's tropical rainforests are concentrated in the central mountainous area, which provides important ecological support for Hainan. Rich in unique resources, the rainforest is home to many diverse species. Hainan's forest land covers an area of about 20,667 km2, with a forest coverage rate of 60.2%. In the tropical rainforest, more than 3,000 species of vascular tropical plants have been recorded, and many of them are rare and endangered in China. There are also many animal species, including 648 species of vertebrates, 14 of which are protected by the state.

On May 11th, the "This is Hainan" column on the New Hainan app launched the first season of "Discovering Mysteries", focusing on Hainan's natural environment, showing Hainan's ecological resources, species diversity, ecological scientific research & protection, and the achievements of the construction of the National Ecological Civilization Experimental District. It will take you to explore the mysteries of the rainforest and discover more, from a macroscopic to a microscopic perspective.

The Dotted Bubble-Nest Frog is rare in the tropical rainforest of Hainan. In the Nankai Area of the Yinggeling Nature Reserve, a family of Dotted Bubble-Nest Frogs lives in a hole in a tree. The Dotted Bubble-Nest Frog likes to live in the pools and ponds in the primary forest at middle and high altitudes. Its breeding season spans a long period of time, so its eggs can be observed from February to October.

Launched by the New Hainan app, "This is Hainan", a new short-video column, has created Hainan"s first micro-documentary column, broadcasting mini-documentaries that will spread easily online, reflecting Hainan's ecology and human geography. This column will publish a series of documentaries, such as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hainan and the Geography of Hainan, together with Discovering Mysteries, recording Hainan's natural resources and showing this island Province's rich natural and human resources to the whole world.
