St Petersburg Stadium is located on Krestovsky Island, with a capacity of 67,000.
It is one of the most high-tech stadiums in the world, with a retractable roof and a sliding pitch, making it possible to hold matches any time of the year.
St Petersburg Stadium is the northernmost stadium of this kind, with the largest heated area. Thanks to the high-tech equipment, the temperature inside is up to 21°C all year round.
The first football match took place on April 22, 2017 when FC Zenit took on FC Ural in the Russian Premier League.
The stadium also hosted FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 matches, including the opening match and the final.
In 2020, the stadium will host three group stage UEFA Euro 2020 matches and a quarterfinal.
