World Volleyball Championship: Chinese women's team beat Canada

Zhu Ting, captain of women's national volleyball team led China to a dominating 3-0 win (25-21, 25-21, 25-13) over Canada at World Championship 2018 in Sapporo, Japan on Tuesday night. 

In the first set, China took an 8-6 lead entering the first technical timeout after a 6-6 stalemate phase with Canada, thanks to Liu Xiaotong's service and Zhu Ting's block. After the break, the team kept two-point advantage thanks to the offensiveness and rival's turnover taking a 16-14 lead over Canada during the second technical timeout. 

With the consecutive leads of two teams to a 21-21 set, China hit four straight points taking a 1-0 game. 

China established an 8-4 lead at the first technical timeout in the second set and was clawed back by Canada with just one point lead at the second timeout. After a seesaw period, China welcomed two spike misses by Canadian wing spikers Alexa Gray and Autumn Bailey respectively, leading a 2-0 game. 

In the third set, China kept the offensiveness with ace spiker Zhu Ting paired with opposite spiker Li Yingying, taking an 8-4 lead at the first technical timeout then enlarged to a 16-8 set at the second timeout thanks to 21-year-old opposite spiker Gong Xiangyu's attack and defense. 

After the break, China seized the match point due to Zhu Ting's service, and middle blocker Hu Mingyuan blocked Brianna Beamish's attack. China won the third set with a total score of a 3-0 win over Canada – a three straight win in the Pool B's competition. 

China's next rival in the group will be Bulgaria on Wednesday.
