A Wukesong compound was awarded one of the China Characteristic Commercial Streets, the second Beijing street bearing the title after touristic site Nanluogu Alley.

Aside from the compound’s business area, which features various top-tier stores including furniture seller Ikea and sportswear manufacture Adidas, Wukesong Arena is deemed the center of the award-winning compound.

Located in the west of Beijing’s downtown, the arena, owned by Beijing-based Bloomage International Investment Group, was the venue for basketball events at the 2008 Olympic Games. It is also scheduled to be the ice hockey venue for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The multi-functional arena also hosts entertainment shows, including the concerts of domestic stars Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung, as well as international singers Beyonce, Justin Bieber and the Backstreet Boys.

The basketball training venue next to the arena has been converted into a basketball park. It has hosted FIBA 3x3 World Tour events.

An ice rink is expected in the southeast side of the arena, as the city promotes winter sports.
