Xu/Liu win mixed doubles at table tennis worlds

BUDAPEST, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese duo Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen beat defending champions Maharu Yoshimura and Kasumi Ishikawa of Japan 4-1 (11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-4) to take the mixed doubles crown at the World Table Tennis Championships here on Friday.

The mixed doubles has been added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics nine days after the Japanese pair claimed the gold at the 2017 World Championships.

China has secured its first gold medal in Budapest after sweeping the women's semifinal spots on Thursday.
