TOKYO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended flat on Friday, as losses in earlier trade were pared by investors buying back issues oversold the previous day, with other Asian bourses' performances providing support.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 13.16 points, or 0.06 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 20,418.81.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.44 points, or 0.10 percent, to finish at 1,485.29.

Real estate and securities house issues led notable gainers, while rubber product and insurance issues comprised those that declined the most.
