Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices closed higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.85 percent, at 2,933.99 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.8 percent higher at 9,889.75 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 418.4 billion yuan (about 59.75 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 362.4 billion yuan in the previous trading day.
Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 1,346 to 109 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,987 to 140 in Shenzhen.
Companies in information communication service sectors mostly gained, with stocks of Xinhua Net Co.,Ltd. surging by 6.148 percent to close at 22.1 yuan per share.
Shares related to transportation and insurance led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.77 percent to close at 1,729.08 points Tuesday.
