Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning on Wall Street's slide

TOKYO, July 26 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning tracking losses on Wall Street overnight, as US durable goods orders data for June coming in better than expected dented hopes for a significant near-term rate cut.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 109.26 points, or 0.50 percent, from Thursday to 21,647.29.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.96 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,569.89.

Nonferrous metal, machinery and securities house-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
