"Do you need to apply for a loan?" "Do you want to rent out your apartment?" Many Chinese people get such nuisance calls every day, including prank calls, telemarketing calls, and threatening calls. They can be "unstoppable," as callers change numbers immediately after the old ones have been blocked by users. Fortunately, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has announced a campaign to eliminate such annoying spam calls. It also intends to crack down on stealing or selling mobile subscribers' personal information by using automatic calling software. Nuisance calls have existed for years in China, but it's not too hard to stop them if authorities concerned shoulder their responsibility. Companies should desist from such practices if they don't want to lose people's trust.
