Last year, also the first year of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the CPPCC, China's top political advisory body, has made efforts at offering advice and suggestions and building consensus, making remarkable achievements, said Guo Weimin, spokesperson for the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, at a press conference Saturday.

The first thing is to regard the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the general framework of all tasks, sincerely organizing to study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. We also focused on studying Xi Jinping thought on strengthening and improving the CPPCC's work, said Guo.

Guo added that the CPPCC regards party building as the fundamental guarantee for leading its development and the body has held the symposium on party building for the first time in the history of the CPPCC.

The CPPCC promotes innovation in working and makes improving quality and efficiency through the whole process of its functioning, effectively improving the quality of the work and improving the collection of public opinion and its   expression, Guo said.

Guo added that the CPPCC strengthens institutional development and long-term planning. Based on the newly-revised charters, the CPPCC completed the revision of 12 important rules and regulations including the Plenary Session, the Standing Committee, and the performance rules of members, further improving the system.

Over the past year, the CPPCC has implemented its functions of political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in politics, Guo said.

While strengthening the performance of duties, we will combine offering advice and suggestions and building consensus, converging on the consensus and implementation of the party and the country's major policies, Guo said at the press conference.
