Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday met with his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte, who is here to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

During the meeting, Xi said the practice proves that China and the Philippines adhering to good neighborliness and friendship conforms to the march of times, and is in line with people's expectations and the only correct choice.
Duterte said the Philippines is full of confidence in jointly building of the Belt and Road and is willing to take the opportunity to achieve national development goals.
He noted that the Philippines is willing to properly handle the maritime issue and not let it affect the development of bilateral relations.
