Chinese mainland reports 2,055 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases, 22,208 new local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 2,137 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 2,055 domestically transmitted and 82 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 22,336 asymptomatic infections on Friday, including 22,208 locally transmitted and 128 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 19,709 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 87 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 905 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 283,930 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
