The Chinese mainland reported 1,661 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, including 1,621 domestically transmitted and 40 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Tuesday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 16,248 asymptomatic infections on Monday, including 16,151 locally transmitted and 97 imported, the National Health Commission said.
There were 14,473 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Monday, with 21 in critical condition.
Monday also saw 574 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.
The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 275,420 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
