The Chinese foreign ministry will continue to optimize visa policies to further ease channels for foreigners to come to China, spokesperson Wang Wenbin said Monday.

"Since the beginning of this year, the foreign ministry, in order to serve high-quality development and high-level opening-up, has continuously optimized the visa policy and jointly introduced a series of facilitation measures with relevant departments to ensure smooth channels for foreigners to come to China," said Wang. "At present, the vast majority of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad are available for appointments within two working days, and quite a few of them have canceled the practice of making appointments and are open to accepting visa applications."

"The above measures have yielded positive results. Both the numbers of visas and foreigners entering China have steadily increased," said Wang.

For the next step, the foreign ministry will continue to optimize visa policies and actively create favorable conditions, to provide more convenience for Chinese and foreign travelers, Wang added.
