Israel reports 6 new COVID-19 cases, lowest daily rise since March 7

JERUSALEM, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Ministry of Health reported six new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the tally to 16,665 in the country.

This marks the lowest daily increase since March 7, when only four new cases were recorded.

The number of victims rose from 278 to 279, while the number of patients in serious condition dropped from 50 to 46, out of 143 patients currently hospitalized.

Also, the number of recoveries increased by 139 to 13,574, while the number of active cases dropped to 2,812, the lowest since March 26.

Earlier on Wednesday, beaches and places of worship were reopened in Israel, under distance restrictions and hygiene measures.

Swimming pools, hotels and restaurants across the country are scheduled to reopen on May 27.
