A robot named CIMON arrived at the International Space Station on Monday.
The Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, or CIMON, was among 5,900 pounds of cargo that launched to the ISS last week atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
The robot is the first personal, artificial intelligence-powered companion in space.
It's an English-speaking droid roughly the size of a basketball that will help German astronaut Alexander Gerst conduct experiments on the International Space Station.CIMON will return to Earth on Dec. 13.
