Stockholm (People's Daily) - Finnish President Sauli Niinisto has tested positive for COVID-19, the president's office announced on Tuesday.

Niinisto, 73, is well and is continuing to work remotely, despite the infection, according to a statement.

Because of the infection, some of Niinisto's upcoming program has been cancelled, such as his scheduled visit to Norway to meet King Harald V on Thursday.

However, the next scheduled state visit has already been set on the president's calendar. Between May 17 and 18, President Niinisto and his spouse Jenni Haukio will visit Sweden at the invitation of King Carl Gustav XVI.

Last October, Niinisto announced that he had tested negative for the coronavirus after several days in quarantine following an exposure to the virus. He had attended a Holocaust forum in Sweden with his Latvian counterpart Egils Levits, who later tested positive for the virus.
