China has long been Kyrgyzstan's top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $11.7 billion in the first seven months of the year, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).
China also ranks as Kyrgyzstan's leading source of foreign investment. As of the end of July, Chinese‑funded direct investment across various sectors in Kyrgyzstan had surpassed $2 billion, MOFCOM data shows.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the two sides are exploring ways to advance trade and investment liberalization and facilitation under the SCO framework to boost regional economic cooperation.
