A major blaze has ravaged a shoe factory near the Siberian city of Novosibirsk, killing 10 people, including 7 Chinese nationals, according to local media.

The incident took place at around 9 a.m. local time on Thursday. Among the dead are seven Chinese, two Kyrgyz and one Russian.

It is reported that the blaze covered about 2,000 square meters, and the burning of shoes and synthetic materials released a large amount of toxic smoke.

At present, the situation is under control and the fire has been extinguished.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
