An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted west of Ferndale, California, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said on Thursday.
The epicenter, with a depth of 12.0 km, was initially determined to be at 40.376 degrees north latitude and 126.656 degrees west longitude.
