People's Daily (Canberra)—The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission announced Wednesday that it has formally initiated an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation against railway wheels from China and France.

The applicant for the survey was Australian Commonwealth Steel Company Pty Ltd. The products involved are forged steel and rolled steel, high-hardness, 966mm-970mm diameter railway wheels. According to Australian statistics, China exported $7.7 million of products to Australia in 2017.

The application alleges that the goods have been exported to Australia from both China and France at prices less than their normal value, and that countervailable subsidies have been received by the goods exported from China. The application alleges that the dumping and subsidies have harmed the Australian industry.

The railway wheels are manufactured in accordance with user defined specifications and drawings, and are used on rail carriages used to transport iron ore.
