UK Prime Minister Theresa May is scheduled travel to China from Jan 31 to Feb 2 for a state visit and the Annual China-UK Prime Ministers' Meeting.

Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, unveiled in an exclusive interview on China Central Television that May will be accompanied by her husband, Philip May.

This is the first time Mr May has accompanied the UK prime minister on a state visit, Liu said.

He accompanied the prime minister to attend last year's G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany but never for a formal state visit.

Liu added that China is totally a new place and country to Mr May, and both sides are looking forward to this visit.
