China's sprinter Su Bingtian set a new Asian record with 6.43 seconds on Tuesday at an IAAF World Indoor Tour event, 0.04 seconds better from his previous record set on Saturday.

"I never expected to finish with 6.43 seconds," Su said on Weibo. "Thanks for my team supporting me all the way."

He was followed across the finish line by Cuba's Yunier Perez and Michael Rodgers of the US, who clocked 6.52 seconds to complete the podium.

Su won a 60-meter race at a World Indoor Tour event with 6.47 seconds in Karlsruhe on Saturday.

Su was the first Asian-born athlete to break the 10-second mark in the 100-meter sprint, where he clocked 9.99 seconds in the 100m at a Diamond League race in Eugene, Oregon in 2015.

Su is expected to compete for China at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March 2018 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
