China urged Pakistan to solve the murder of Chinese nationals who were shot in Karachi and to bring the gunman to justice as soon as possible, Geng Shuang, Foreign Ministry spokesman, said at a regular press conference Tuesday.
Two Chinese citizens were shot on Monday in their car by an unidentified gunman, who fired at them from his own car. One was shot in his leg, while the other on his head and dead.
The two victims were identified as workers of a shipping company.
"We notice that the Pakistani government and its military have adopted actions to counter terrorism and safeguard social security. We support Pakistan to move forward with their actions, but we hope and believe that Pakistan will take measures to safeguard Chinese and Chinese institutions' safety in Pakistan,"Geng said.
This is the third case of Chinese nationals being killed in Pakistan, after a female was robbed and shot last December and died on January 19, and another two were kidnapped and killed by the Islamic State group last October.
